Overview

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has established comprehensive standards for ready-mixed concrete production, testing, and quality control. Kalokhe RMC strictly adheres to all relevant IS codes to ensure superior quality and compliance.

Key IS Codes for Ready Mixed Concrete

IS 4926:2003

Ready Mixed Concrete - Code of Practice

The primary standard governing all aspects of ready-mixed concrete production and delivery.

  • Covers production specifications
  • Delivery requirements
  • Quality control procedures
  • Testing protocols

IS 456:2000

Plain and Reinforced Concrete - Code of Practice

Fundamental standard for concrete design and construction practices.

  • Concrete grade specifications
  • Design mix requirements
  • Durability requirements
  • Structural concrete guidelines

IS 1199:2018

Fresh Concrete - Sampling, Testing and Analysis

Methods for sampling and testing fresh concrete properties.

  • Slump test procedures
  • Workability assessment
  • Fresh concrete properties
  • Sampling methods

IS 516:2021

Hardened Concrete - Testing Methods

Comprehensive methods for testing hardened concrete strength.

  • Compressive strength testing
  • Cube testing procedures
  • Testing machine requirements
  • Result interpretation

Standard Concrete Grades - IS 456:2000

Grade Compressive Strength (MPa) Applications Mix Type
M10 10 MPa @ 28 days Leveling course, PCC works Nominal Mix
M15 15 MPa @ 28 days Plain concrete, foundations Nominal Mix
M20 20 MPa @ 28 days Residential structures, slabs Design Mix
M25 25 MPa @ 28 days Commercial buildings, beams Design Mix
M30 30 MPa @ 28 days Multi-storey buildings, columns Design Mix
M35 35 MPa @ 28 days Heavy load structures Design Mix
M40 40 MPa @ 28 days High-rise buildings, bridges Design Mix
M45-M60 45-60 MPa @ 28 days High-performance applications Design Mix
Note on Mix Designation

The letter 'M' in grade designation stands for 'Mix', and the number represents the characteristic compressive strength of 150mm cube at 28 days, expressed in MPa (N/mm²). For example, M25 means the concrete mix should achieve a minimum characteristic compressive strength of 25 MPa after 28 days of curing.
